Mannwan: Fletcher is negotiating as Manchester United s new U18 coach

According to the British media Manchester Evening News, Fletcher is negotiating as Manchester United's new U18 coach.

British media previously reported that Adam Lawrence will leave after the end of this season, and Fletcher has been identified as a potential successor.

Fletcher currently serves as the first team coach in Amorin's coaching staff. Because of his understanding of the academy, Fletcher has always been regarded as an important bridge between the academy camp and the first team, so Manchester United believes that Fletcher is the right candidate for the U18 position.

Fletcher hopes to explore his coaching career. Fletcher had previously been reluctant to accept youth training positions because his twin sons Jack and Taylor were in the youth training system, but now they have grown into players.

Fletcher initially returned to Old Trafford in 2020 to hold a junior youth position and was appointed as the club's first technical director in March 2021, and was later transferred from the position after Ratcliff's capital injection.

Ratcliffe appointed Jason Wilcox as technical director after he acquired a minority stake, who was recently promoted to football director and Fletcher became the first team coach. Lawrence's resignation has nothing to do with club-wide layoffs. He said in a statement confirming his departure that working for Manchester United is an "excellent" .

Lawrence led Manchester United's U18 team to win the triple championship in the 2023/24 season, winning the cup twice after defeating his old rival Manchester City. Last season, his goal was to win the Youth FA Cup.

However, Manchester United's U18 team was eliminated by Villa in the penalty shootout in the Youth FA Cup semi-finals at the end of March. Villa then defeated Manchester City in the final to win the championship.

Last season, Manchester United's U18 team ranked second in the Premier League Northern League.
