Szczesny: After being abandoned by Wenger, I became a estrangement from him, but at that time I was really content with the status quo

Schchensney's solo documentary premiered yesterday, and in an interview with Polish media, he talked about his meeting with Wenger many years later.

Schchensny joined Arsenal youth training in 2006. After being abandoned by Wenger in 2015, he joined Rome on loan.

After many years of meeting Wenger, Szczesny said: "What makes me happiest is definitely meeting Mr. Wenger. It's not only for documentary shooting, but also for my personal wishes. I was retired at that time, so we had the opportunity to communicate honestly.

"After the camera stopped recording, we had dinner together and spent hours together, and we had a very sincere and pleasant conversation. In order to make a special trip to Zurich to meet Wenger and resolve all the knots, I even felt that retirement was worth it.

"This knot does not bother me, but I don't understand whether it is because of on-court performance or off-court issues, whether he is disappointed with me or thinks that I am not capable enough. I need answers, there is no conflict between us, but there is indeed a gap. Now the misunderstanding has finally been eliminated, we have a good relationship, and he is an extremely important person in my career.

"I feel particularly relieved that it may have been a wrong decision to exclude me from the team. I agreed with his point of view, and I was really too content with the status quo at that time. When I needed spurt the most, he gave me a heavy blow. Later I proved that I was qualified for the Arsenal goalkeeper, but if it weren't for that turn, maybe I wouldn't have achieved what I am today.

"Although I think he made a wrong decision at the time, it was perhaps the most favorable arrangement for me and helped me achieve a wonderful career. I have no grudges about Wenger, and I am grateful."
