Spend more than 400 million to sign! Red Army Director: Retrieve from transfer fees, the most important thing is to be suitable players
Liverpool Sports Director Richard Hughes was interviewed by The Athletic when he attended the IMG x RedBird summit with Fenway CEO Edwards this Thursday, talking about the club's transfer strategy.
"You have to pull out as much as possible from the constraints of the transfer fee amount. First of all, the most important thing is to find the right players for the right tactical system and the head coach. I think this is not new to the club and its owners. Looking back, if the transfer fee of Allison and Van Dijk is converted to today's price, it is actually not much different from the actual expenditure of some transfers this summer."
"We pay the market price we think is fair based on the age of the player and the degree of demand for the team. Over time, we hope that this huge transfer fee will be considered worth the money when we evaluate it in the future. Since the players we signed are young, we are confident that it will prove that it is worth it in the end."
The average age of seven new players in Liverpool this summer is 22.4 years old, which shows that this is not a short-term investment. Richard Hughes said: "This is our expectation, and by bringing in young players, we provide possibilities for achieving long-term goals. We also want to be able to succeed immediately, which is equally important, so I will not describe them as 'growing' players. These players have achieved a lot in their careers, which is about Wilz and Isaac, while Kolkz, Flynnon and Ekitic have also reached a certain level in the game."
