Mirror: Chelsea signs Preston to terminate the contract with Chian Best, playing left-back at the age of 19

The Mirror reported that Chelsea signed 19-year-old left-back Chian Best, the player was terminated by Preston not long ago.

Kien Best has made seven appearances for England U19. The Mirror learned that he has completed his physical examination and has officially signed a contract with Chelsea. Best attracted attention in May when he claimed that he had learned about his contract being terminated by his hometown club Preston through social media

At that time, he wrote: "It's a good way to learn about the termination through Instagram."

However, the post was suspected to have been deleted, and Preston CEO Peter Ridzdale later denied that Best only knew about the decision to leave the team through social media.

Best thanked Preston in a subsequent post: "Thanks to Preston Club for its cultivation over the past 12 years. From joining at the age of 7 to debut at the age of 17, this journey is unforgettable. As a Preston child, I hoped to continue playing, but this is football. Thanks to all the players and staff who have helped me, and finally I would like to thank the fans for their support. I will always be one of you."

This defender had an affair with Fulham after Preston made his mark. Last summer, the Saudi professional league team Daman collaborated with him and allegedly initiated a purchase, but was rejected. Although Best won the club's Best Young Player Award in the 2023-24 season, under the leadership of new coach Paul Heginbotum, he only won two substitute opportunities (League Cup vs. Harrogate and Arsenal).
